Don’t make decisions in spiritual lows or emotional highs—wait for a steady heart and clear mind. I love this wisdom and I’ve drawn on it this week
St. Ignatius of Loyola teaches that significant decisions should not be made during spiritual desolation—when we feel anxious, discouraged, or distant from God—nor in the emotional "afterglow" of spiritual highs. In both states, judgment is often clouded by fear or impulsive emotion. Instead, he invites us to wait for a time of spiritual equilibrium, when our hearts are calm and our minds clear, so that discernment can flow from peace, prayer, and true inner freedom.
